For Our Guests: What to Expect This Weekend!

Do you ever feel turbulence in your emotions or thought life and wish for more of God's promise, the peace that transcends understanding? There is good news: The One who carries the authority of peace resides in us.

Join us April 19th-21st as we will seek to understand what stands in the way of our peace, how the Lord's authority brings peace and who is the Spirit of peace within us.

"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7

The John Newcomb property has multiple properties on Mission Valley Road. Our retreat entrance, Newcomb Ranch, is located between the tennis academy and the country club.  Use THIS LINK for precise navigation.  (Searching for Newcombe Tennis Ranch on Google and iMaps may lead you to an alternate property.)

  • Casual clothing, including layers and comfortable shoes
  • A sweater or jacket for air-conditioned rooms and cool nights
  • Bible, journal and pen
  • Umbrella, just in case
  • Any extra snacks you’d like to have or share (meals & snacks are provided)
  • Active clothing if you opt to do the ropes course, play tennis, swim or exercise during free time (we also suggest bringing sturdy shoes for the easy hike)
  • Flashlight (your phone flashlight may be sufficient; the property gets dark at night)
  • Provided at the retreat center: bedding, towels & tennis equipment

Please note! We have made a change to the check-in process. Please find us in the Sydney Suite for check-in. The Sydney Suite is a small stone building on your right when driving onto the Newks property.  Find available parking and join us there.

Check-in is from 4:30 - 6:00 pm on Friday. We will enjoy hors d'oeuvres from 5:00 - 6:30 pm, and our first session begins at 6:45 pm. If you would like a more substantial meal before we begin, please grab something on the way.

When you arrive at your room after checking in, your bed will be designated. Please do not move those designations, as we've sought to accommodate each woman's needs and preferences to the best of our ability.

*If arriving after 6:30pm, please park and contact Genevie at ‭(210) 771-9394 or Lisette at (832) 766-8108‬ to receive your arrival package and information you’ll need for the weekend.

We have free time scheduled from 1:30 - 5:30 pm on Saturday. You are welcome to spend the time however you desire: take a nap, play some tennis, go for a walk or swim, head out for some shopping, prayer & journaling, or you may participate in our scheduled activities.

We will wrap up at noon on Sunday.  Please be packed up before attending the Sunday morning session.  Keys may be returned to the front desk at The Lodge.

If you are a daytime-only attendee, please plan on staying until at least 9:40 pm on Friday night, when our small group time is completed. You are also welcomed and encouraged to stay for the Nacho Bar which begins at 9:45 pm, if you're able! Then, plan on being back in time for the breakfast & breakout sessions at 8:00 am on Saturday morning. Again, plan on staying until 9:45 on Saturday night. Finally, please mark your calendar to join us for our final breakfast and session on Sunday morning at 8:00 am.

Finally, you may find more general information with a map and directions to Newcombe Tennis Ranch click here. And if you have any questions before the weekend, feel free to email

Please know that our 2024 Women's Retreat and your attendance have been covered in prayer. We are looking forward to our time together. Blessings on your week and see you on Friday!
